Personal Training Enables Organisation Transformation

A large commodity company wanted to redesign one of its sales and marketing functions and relied on a newly transferred project manager to do this. Approach

The sales and marketing team was experiencing cross-functional conflict, sub-optimised margins, and a slow customer response time due to its functional structure. They wanted to break their siloed structure.

Through LEPT coaching, we helped the leader:

  1. Lead the Organisation Redesign Project

    The leader used Personal Training Organisation Design Tools to help guide the project, design the organisation, and manage the redesign team. The team identified alternative designs to accomplish the function's goals.

  2. Influence and Align Stakeholders

    Coaching helped the leader plan for and reflect upon interactions with stakeholders. This encouraged the leader to flex his own influence style.

  3. Lead Organisation Change Efforts

    The leader leveraged Personal Training Change Management Tools to involve employees in the change and ensure that roles, processes, and capabilities met the needs of the new structure.

The leader successfully delivered a new organisation design and operating model.

  • Capabilities Improved 122%. A pre- and post-360 survey indicated that the leader improved targeted skills such as leading change by 122% over 7 months.

  • Promoted to Marketing Manager. The leader was promoted to a marketing manager role based on the leadership demonstrated in the project.

  • Improved Business Performance. Based on the new structure and operating model, the sales and marketing team increased sales, improved customer response time, and reduced supply chain costs.
